Reading Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to 39 calls in 2017 - 11.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Reading included 24 fires - 10 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 12 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

The department also received 14 false calls.

The Reading Township Volunteer Fire Department had an annual budget of $74,247 in 2017.
