City of Fairbury City Council met Feb. 21.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Tipton, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the February 7, council meeting
B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills
C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)
D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)
E. None
F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:
➢ Daryl Haney and Clayton Rosenberger came to discuss UTV’s on City Streets

→ Streets & Fire – Martin Steidinger, Superintendent & Fire Chief reported –
➢ Dave’s Supermarket would like to refinish the parking lot
➢ Fire Dept. will be voting on Fire Chief & Asst. Chief position
➢ Last day is April 5th
→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent - absent
→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent
→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief reported –
➢ Presented a quote for a new squad car

➢ A water committee meeting will be March 6th at 6:00 p.m.

A. Motion by Hoselton, second by Norris to approve a property tax abatement agreement through GLCEDC with Sealtite. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
B. Motion by Tipton, second by Schmidgall to approve purchase of materials for watermain extension for development along West Oak St. Motion carried 6-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
C. Consideration to approve paying vehicle damages – Will be acted on after executive session
