City of Fairbury City Council met March 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Bruce Weber, Jerry Hoffman, and Jim Tipton. Bill Schmidgall was absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Hoselton, second by Kinate to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the March 6, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. 506 S Clay – 216 sq ft @ $2.50 sq ft = $540 & 411 W Oak St – 2,820 sq ft @ $2.50 sq ft = $7,050

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 7-0 YES- Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ Sharon Clark came to discuss Police patrolling in Forrest

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets & Fire – Martin Steidinger, Superintendent & Fire Chief - absent

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent – none

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief reported –

• The new Police Explorer has been picked up and is being fitted with equipment.

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported –

• Addressed a recent issue regarding a smell coming from the water. The City urges resident’s to call City Hall to report when experiencing abnormal situations.

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney – absent

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris reported updates are progressing at the pool.

→ Alderman Endres - none

→ Alderman Hoselton - none

→ Alderman Kinate inquired about repainting lines on Locust St.

→ Alderman Weber - none

→ Alderman Hoffman - none

→ Alderman Tipton discussed a street complaint from Mirlynbeth Ln.

→ Alderman Schmidgall – absent

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve a $263,204 bid and supplemental resolution of funds for Locust St ADA sidewalk project. Motion carried 7-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton

B. Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to approve prohram and resolution of funds for 2024 MFT general maintenance program. Motion carried 7-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton

C. Motion by Weber, second by Endres to approve a $6,648 purchase of small boat for sewer department. Motion carried 8-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
