Illinois State Representative Jason Bunting said on Apr. 22 that he was joined by Tara Bedei, mayor of Streator, and Aindrea Hogan, Vice President of Development for the Grundy County Economic Development Council, at the annual Women to Watch Conference held at the Capitol.
The event is significant as it brings together women leaders from across Illinois to network and participate in discussions on leadership and policy. According to Bunting, “Each year, the Women to Watch Conference is hosted by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie and the House Republican Caucus to bring together women leaders from around the state. The networking conference features panel discussions, tours of the Capitol and the State Archives, a luncheon and a chance to observe House committee and floor sessions. In addition to legislators, this year’s special guest was Iowa Lieutenant Governor Chris Gearhart Cournoyer.”
Bunting described the day as “very exciting” with many productive conversations among attendees. He also thanked participants from throughout Illinois who attended: “Thank you to everyone from throughout the state who attended!”
Bunting was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’s 106th House District in 2023 after replacing former state representative Thomas Bennett according to public records.
The conference aims each year to foster connections between current lawmakers and emerging women leaders in government and related fields.
