Property owners in Chatsworth paid property taxes equal to 2.4% of their home’s value in the fourth quarter of 2025, a rate that is more than 2.7 times higher than the U.S. average, BlockShopper.com reports.

Data show the median sales price for a Chatsworth home was $75,000 in the fourth quarter of 2025, based on two properties sold in that period. For the year, the city’s median property tax bill reached $1,811, which corresponds to 2.4% of the median assessed home value.

The average effective property tax rate nationwide stood at 0.888% in 2024.

Within Livingston County, Cornell, Forrest and Chatsworth had the three highest effective property tax rates among cities.
