City of Pontiac Committee of the Whole met Jan. 31.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The committee of the whole meeting of the Pontiac City Council was held on January 31, 2026. Mayor Eckhoff called to order the meeting of the City Council at 10:00 A.M.
The City Clerk was directed to call roll, and the following members of the Council were present: Giovanini, Barr, Gill, S. Hoerner, Causer, A. Hoerner, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.
AGENDA
A. Police
Chief Davis presented his budget from last year and what he has so far as his projected budget for the upcoming year. He did not have any requests as he got grants a few months ago for new equipment. Discussion and questions were held.
B. Fire
Chief Campbell presented his budget from last year and what his projected budget is for the upcoming year. His request for this year is to hire more staff who are cross trained for flexibility in the department. Discussion and questions were held.
C. Street
Chris Brock presented his budget from last year and what he sees as his budget for the upcoming year. He does note that staffing will be an issue in the coming years as retirements are pending. He also presented upcoming projects. His request is to make changes to the brush collection and what is collected. He would like a leaf collecting machine and is going to price some out and get it to council. Discussion and questions were held.
D. Wastewater Treatment Plant
Brad Duncan presented his budget from last year and the projections for the upcoming year. Starting the compliance issue is the priority this year. He discussed upcoming projects for the year. He would like a root treatment plan in the future. Discussion and questions were held.
E. Cemetery
Jim Melvin presented his budget from last year and his projected budget for this year. They had 9 full burials this year. He does feel they will need to replace Tyler Carley eventually. He requests a new Kubota mower. Discussion and questions were held.
F. Parks
No presentation
G. Golf Course
Shannon Campbell presented his budget from last year and the projected budget for the upcoming year. He presented a few projects he has planned for the year including fixing 4 senior tee boxes, adding sand to the sand traps etc. He did mention big outings happening at the course this summer. He is requesting a full-time employee, a new mower, hydraulic pump, and to update the ball washers. Discussion and questions were held.
H. Community Enrichment
No presentation.
I. Airport
City administrator Woolford presented the budget from last year and the projected budget for the upcoming year. There is plenty of money in the budget for the airport. Noted that the LACC is going to start a program out there in the next school year. He presented a few new projects for this year. Discussion and questions were held.
