The Illinois House of Representatives is approaching the final hours of its spring session with several unresolved issues, including discussions around the Governor’s proposed budget and potential tax increases. A “shell bill” was recently sent to the Senate, but it lacks details on the state budget.

Representative Bunting provided an update, expressing concerns about transparency and promising a more comprehensive recap next week. He encouraged constituents to follow updates on his Facebook page.

A bill sponsored by Rep. Bunting and Senator Chris Balkema has passed the House. Senate Bill 2044 allows local governments to use web-based signature technology, potentially streamlining processes for communities. The bill passed unanimously in both chambers but requires Senate approval of recent amendments before reaching the Governor.

Rep. Bunting also highlighted Farm Safety Week, scheduled for September 15-21, 2025. The resolution aims to raise awareness about farm safety due to frequent accidents involving dangerous equipment and conditions on farms.

In other news, Rep. Bunting congratulated the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County on their new Fairbury Center opening soon. This center will offer various activities for youth and seniors.

Additionally, Illinois faces a backlog of $1,272,502,884 in unpaid bills submitted to the Comptroller’s office for payment.

Recent headlines include criticism from Illinois GOP regarding a clean energy plan’s costs and legislation raising the age for mandatory driver’s tests moving forward.
