Yesterday, on the House Floor, a significant step was taken towards celebrating a historic milestone. Senate Joint Resolution 12 was presented by Rep. Tipsword, marking 2026 as the Illinois Route 66 Centennial Year. This resolution aims to honor the legacy of Route 66, often referred to as the “Mother Road,” which has been an integral part of Illinois for a century.

The resolution encourages various entities, including communities, historical societies, and state agencies, to organize events that commemorate this landmark anniversary. By doing so, it seeks to highlight the cultural and historical significance of Route 66 in Illinois.

“Yesterday on the House Floor, I was honored to present Senate Joint Resolution 12,” said Rep. Tipsword. The initiative is set to engage numerous stakeholders across the state in celebrating this momentous occasion.
