The Illinois State baseball team achieved a victory over Missouri State with a score of 7-3 in their game on Saturday at Duffy Bass Field. The Redbirds now hold a record of 22-22 overall and 11-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), while the Bears stand at 24-20 overall and 14-6 in the MVC.

Key contributions to the Redbirds’ win came from players such as Judah Morris, Josh Outlaw, Graham Mastros, and Luke Stulga, each contributing RBIs. Freshman Toby Schriefer pitched two solid innings in relief, earning the save. Junior Tyrelle Chadwick secured the win after pitching for seven innings.

In the scoring breakdown, the Redbirds established an early lead with three runs in the second inning, capitalizing on an RBI groundout, a sacrifice fly, and a throwing error by Missouri State. The Bears responded with an RBI single in the third inning and an RBI groundout in the fifth, which cut the lead to 3-2. Morris added to the Redbirds’ lead with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Further extending their advantage, Illinois State scored three runs in the eighth inning, aided by a Mastros triple and an RBI double by Stulga, leading to a 7-2 score. Missouri State scored the game’s final run with a solo home run in the ninth inning.

For individual performances, Brayden Bakes went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, Daniel Contreras was 2-for-3, and Stulga and Mastros each provided two RBIs.

Notably, Luke Stulga extended his hitting streak to 20 games, and Chadwick managed four one-two-three innings during the game.
