The Illinois State gymnastics team is set to host Northern Illinois University in its final regular season home meet at Horton Field House. The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, will be streamed live on ESPN+ and will offer live statistics through Virtius.
This dual meet marks the last home appearance for the Redbirds before they host the Midwest Independent Conference Championships on March 20.
Illinois State enters the weekend ranked 55th nationally with an average score of 193.143. In their previous outing, the Redbirds were ahead midway but ultimately lost to Southeast Missouri State, finishing with a score of 192.475 against SEMO’s 194.150 during Senior Night.
The team started strong on vault with a score of 48.625, marking their second-highest result in that event this season. Madyson Baucom won the bars event with a score of 9.700, while teammates Jada Beswick and Jercy Koliego tied for second place at 9.675 each. On floor exercise, seniors Jaly Jones and Leah Davis both scored 9.800 to tie for second overall.
Northern Illinois comes into the meet ranked No. 59 nationally with an average score of 192.675. The Huskies recently achieved a season high on vault at Bowling Green with a team score of 48.850 and swept the top three finishes in that event.
At Friday’s Beauty and the Beast Meet, NIU placed second overall with a team total of 191.700; SEMO took first place (193.900), followed by Wilberforce (180.775). Junior Dawsyn Sallee tied her career high on vault at 9.850 to win that routine, while Jocelyn Harbeck and sophomore Drake White also matched personal bests during the meet—Harbeck scored a 9.800 as well.
Additionally, junior Mikayla Brown secured her first beam victory this season by tying her season-high mark of 9.800.
