Illinois State men’s tennis loses close match to Menlo College, 4-3

The Illinois State men’s tennis team lost a close contest to Menlo College on Mar. 13, with the Redbirds falling 4-3 at the Cartan Tennis Courts in Atherton, California.

The match was part of Illinois State’s Spring Break trip in California and saw the Redbirds take an early lead by sweeping all three doubles matches. The No. 2 pair of Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett secured a 6-3 win, while Tomas Valencia and Adrian Dibildox won their No. 1 doubles match 6-2. Christian Capacci and Manuel Pavia completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Menlo College came back to take a 2-1 lead after wins at the No. 2 and No. 5 spots. Ostro tied the match for Illinois State by defeating Henry Riccioni-Brown in straight sets, but Menlo responded with victories at No. 6 and No. 4 singles to clinch the overall win before Valencia earned another point for Illinois State at No. 1 singles.
