Illinois State women’s golf moves up standings at More Than Golf Invitational

Illinois State University’s women’s golf team improved its position on the second day of the More Than Golf Invitational in Aiken, South Carolina. The Redbirds are currently in 11th place, with two other schools trailing by only two strokes as one round remains.

Tulsa and Denver share the lead after two rounds, each posting a score of 602. Columbia, which led after the first round, is now one stroke behind at 603. The rest of the field includes Augusta (615), Richmond (618), Southern Miss (622), Radford (628), Morehead State (629), Fairleigh Dickinson (641), Oakland (642), Illinois State (643), and Alabama State (668).

Alex Sparrow made notable progress for Illinois State, improving her score from the first round with a 77 in the second round. She moved up 12 spots and is tied for 19th place with one round to play. Sparrow recorded two birdies and 11 pars during her round.

Elise Fennell had two birdies and nine pars for a nine-over 82, placing her in a tie for 44th through 36 holes. Dani Grace Schrock posted a two-over 75 in the second round, climbing 11 places in the individual standings; she had four birdies and nine pars and is now tied for 48th.

Reagan Kennedy and Reagan Braker completed ISU’s five-player lineup over the first two rounds. Kennedy finished with an eight-over 81 that included a birdie and ten pars, while Braker carded a seven-over 80 with twelve pars. Kennedy is tied for 51st place; Braker is tied for 57th.

The Redbirds will begin their final round alongside Alabama State and Oakland at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
