Illinois State women’s golf team moves up two spots in Missouri tournament standings

The Illinois State women’s golf team improved its position by climbing two spots on Mar. 24 during the second day of a tournament in Hollister, Missouri, and remains within reach of advancing further as the event concludes tomorrow.

Missouri State leads the competition with a total score of 598 after 36 holes. South Dakota State, South Dakota, University of Texas at El Paso, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi make up the rest of the top five teams. West Florida and Indiana State are just ahead of Illinois State’s score of 630, which currently places them in eighth out of fourteen schools participating.

Reagan Kennedy led Illinois State with a one-over-par round that included two birdies and thirteen pars. She is tied for twelfth place overall and has a per-four scoring average tied for third-best among all players so far. Elise Fennell recorded one birdie and thirteen pars during her round; her total number of pars over two rounds ties her for third-most in the field. Fennell is one stroke behind Kennedy in fourteenth place with a par-four scoring average among the top seven competitors.

Alex Sparrow made one eagle—one of only four achieved so far in this tournament—alongside three birdies and six pars to finish five-over-par for her round. Her five birdies across both rounds tie her for sixth most overall as she stands tied for thirty-fourth place entering the final day. Dani Grace Schrock carded four birdies to lead her team in that category during round two but finished eight-over-par; she is currently tied for sixtieth place through two rounds. Reagan Braker had six pars on Monday and will start Tuesday’s final eighteen holes tied for seventy-fifth.
