Illinois State University’s women’s tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over Dominican University on Sunday at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center in San Rafael, California. The Redbirds improved their season record to 9-3, while Dominican fell to 5-4.
The match began with Illinois State winning the doubles point. Nicole Iosio and Nuria Sanz defeated Deepalakshmi Vanaraja and Ana Rios 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 doubles, Vittoria Benedetti and Emma Lindh won against Maya Cooper and Lorenza Foster-Simbulan 6-1. The No. 1 doubles match between Lana Caculovic/Silvia Pomarolli and Maria Gavrilov/Sofia Acuña was left unfinished at 3-3.
In singles play, all six Redbird players won in straight sets:
– Lana Caculovic beat Sofia Acuña 6-1, 6-0.
