The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team is set to travel to Memphis, Tennessee, for a weekend series of games against DePauw University and Rhodes College. The Titans will face DePauw on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a game against Rhodes in the afternoon. They will close out the trip with another matchup against Rhodes on Sunday at Stauffer Field.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the weekend with a 1-2 record. DePauw holds a 1-1 mark after splitting its opening games, including a win over Rhodes and a loss to Aurora University. Rhodes comes into the series with a 4-1 record, having recently defeated the University of Chicago and scoring double-digit runs in most of their victories.
The Titans are returning to play after losing two out of three games to Greenville University earlier this month. In that series, sophomore AJ Weller and senior Jack Flagg led Illinois Wesleyan’s offense, combining for 16 hits in 28 at-bats, three home runs, and 13 RBIs across three games. Weller was recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week after hitting .692 with nine hits—including his first career home run—three doubles, and a triple. Flagg recorded his first multi-home run game and contributed eight RBIs.
Saturday’s meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and DePauw marks their 19th matchup since their series began in 1988. The Titans lead the all-time record 12-6. Last season under head coach Michael Kellar, both teams split a doubleheader at Jack Horenberger Field.
Illinois Wesleyan also holds an advantage over Rhodes in their all-time meetings at 16-7 but has lost two of the last three contests. Under Coach Kellar’s direction, this will be Illinois Wesleyan’s first time facing Rhodes; their last encounter was in 2023 when Rhodes won 16-8.
The Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Baseball program follows NAIA guidelines as part of the Crossroads League and supports student-athletes in balancing academic work with athletic commitments during scheduled competitions. The program contributes to the university’s athletic tradition (https://www.iwusports.com/sports/baseball).
