The Titans are preparing for their regular season finale with an eye on the upcoming College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament slated to begin on April 24. Currently holding an 8-10 record, they are coming off a defeat against Loras College, which ended 5-2 in favor of the opposition. During that match, Illinois Wesleyan secured points through victories in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches and a No. 2 singles win. Freshmen Gabi Lipske and Katie Van Heuklon achieved a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 doubles match. Seniors Kate Christian and Andie Wilson clinched a 7-5 victory in the No. 3 doubles, contributing to the team’s point score. Lipske also won her No. 2 singles match with scores of 7-6(4), 6-3.
The upcoming match with Greenville University will be the fourth encounter between the two teams since they first competed in 1990. Greenville has a narrow lead in the series with a 2-1 advantage. They also emerged victorious in the last meeting on September 18, 2021. A win for the Titans on Saturday would represent their highest number of wins in a season since the 2010-11 season when they recorded a 10-7 outcome. The Greenville Panthers recently defeated Illinois College 7-0 on April 7.
