The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s basketball team has moved up to 13th place in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll, released on February 16. The Titans climbed three spots and are now one of two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) teams featured in the rankings.
This marks the program’s 213th appearance in the poll since its inception in the 1999-2000 season, ranking eighth-most all-time. The Titans recently secured a narrow 53-52 victory over Millikin University on February 11, improving their record to 19-4 overall and 11-3 within conference play.
Illinois Wesleyan received a total of 341 points in this week’s voting. Carthage College, another CCIW member, re-entered the poll at No. 22 after previously being ranked as high as sixth earlier this season.
Montclair State remains at the top of the rankings with a perfect record and received twelve first-place votes for a total of 585 points. Randolph-Macon is second with six first-place votes and 581 points. Trinity (Conn.), St. Thomas (Texas), and Emory complete the top five.
The Titans will conclude their regular season schedule with away games against North Park University on February 18 and Augustana College on February 21.
The D3hoops.com Top-25 poll is determined by a panel consisting of coaches, Sports Information Directors, and media members from across the country. Points are assigned on a descending scale from first to twenty-fifth place each week.
Illinois Wesleyan’s men’s basketball team competes in NCAA Division III athletics as part of the CCIW, playing home games at its Bloomington, Illinois campus. The program uses green and white colors and is known by its Titans nickname. The team has previously won national championships in both 1997 and 2001 according to its official website.
