The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s golf team was ranked No. 8 in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll, announced by the organization on March 27.
This ranking comes after Illinois Wesleyan participated in one tournament during its spring season, finishing seventh at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational. Sophomore Pablo Castro led the Titans with a third-place finish and a score of 204, which was his lowest career total and the second-lowest in program history.
Huntingdon College maintained its top position with all first-place votes, while Washington and Lee moved up to second place. The rest of the top five included Carnegie Mellon, Emory, and Sewanee. Illinois Wesleyan dropped from sixth to eighth place compared to the previous poll.
Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Golf competes in NCAA Division III athletics according to the official website. The team is affiliated with Illinois Wesleyan University and participates within the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin at this level according to their official site. Their home facilities include Ironwood Golf Course as noted by university sources, operating out of Bloomington, Illinois according to official information.
The Titans are scheduled to host their next event at Weibring Golf Course and Ironwood Golf Course on April 3-4.
