The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team will finish a series of three consecutive away games with a match against Wabash College on March 25. The Titans, holding a record of 5-4, are set to play the Little Giants (2-6) at Fischer Field in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
This game is significant as Illinois Wesleyan aims to break a two-game losing streak after their recent defeat by Pfeiffer University, where they lost 12-10. Junior Jake Kahoun led the team with three goals in that contest. Senior Michael Rocco contributed seven faceoff wins and tied for most ground balls with sophomore Wyatt Hart, who also recorded three caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Jaymeson Zackery made 17 saves during the match.
Through nine games this season, junior Timothy McHugh leads the Titans in scoring with 28 points and is close to reaching his hundredth career assist. Kahoun follows closely with 23 points and holds the top spot for goals scored on the team this season. Freshman Holden Webster and sophomore Charlie Burghardt have also been key contributors offensively.
Rocco has achieved a .545 faceoff win percentage so far this year, while Arnold follows at .489. On defense, senior Billy McHugh leads with 21 caused turnovers; four other players have each forced twelve turnovers as well. This defensive group helps maintain an average of nearly fifteen caused turnovers per game nationally.
Zackery leads in ground balls collected and has tallied over one hundred saves across more than five hundred minutes played this season between the posts. The Titans previously faced Wabash last year at Tucci Stadium—where they play their home games—and won that matchup by five goals.
