The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team will begin its spring break trip with a game against Roanoke College on Saturday, March 14, according to a March 12 announcement. The Titans are scheduled to play the Maroons at Donald J. Kerr Stadium at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
This matchup is significant as it marks the first meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and Roanoke in program history. The Titans enter the contest following a 15-11 win over Baldwin Wallace University on March 11, where junior Timothy McHugh led with eight points, including five goals and three assists. Sophomore Jaymeson Zackery contributed five ground balls and recorded a career-high 19 saves in goal.
McHugh currently leads the team in points and assists, while junior Jake Kahoun has scored a team-high of 15 goals this season. Freshman Holden Webster has quickly become an important player with ten goals so far. Senior Micahel Rocco leads faceoff statistics for the Titans, winning nearly sixty percent of his attempts, while Zackery tops the team in ground balls collected.
The Titans rank third nationally in total ground balls and sixth in average ground balls per game among NCAA Division III teams. They also hold a top-ten national ranking for caused turnovers per game, with senior Billy McHugh leading that category for Illinois Wesleyan.
