The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s tennis team secured a 7-0 win over Ripon College on Saturday, March 7 at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. With this result, the Titans move to a 6-3 record for the season, while Ripon falls to 3-12.
Illinois Wesleyan began by winning all three doubles matches. Seniors Ian Turnbull and Ben Vigneri won their match 6-0 against Caleb Sippel and Kyle Flook. The pair of Thad Dillow and Griffin Hammond defeated Ryan Richter and Austin Stevens 6-2. Freshmen Will Ehrlich and Truman Raher completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory over Emerson Hendricks and Corey Mooney.
In singles play, Ben Vigneri earned his second top-line win of the season with a 7-6 (6), 6-1 result against Sippel. Thad Dillow defeated Stevens in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Griffin Hammond posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mooney at No. 3 singles. Will Ehrlich recorded a straight-set victory against Flook, winning 6-1, 6-2. Truman Raher won his match versus Richter by scores of 6-2, 6-4. Junior Chase Tomecki rounded out the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ethan Tines.
The Titans are scheduled to play Lawrence University next on Sunday, March 8 at Evergreen Racquet Club with first serve set for 1 p.m.
