The No. 20 Illinois Wesleyan University men’s volleyball team defeated St. Norbert College in four sets on March 20, with set scores of 23-25, 25-16, 25-23, and 25-20 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington. The Titans’ victory marks their sixth consecutive win and brings their season record to 18-4, while St. Norbert falls to 10-12.
This match was notable as Illinois Wesleyan established a new program record for blocks in a single match, finishing with 17 rejections. Freshman Aydin Provost led the effort with eight blocks, followed by sophomore Wilson Spaulding with seven and sophomore Gavin Rohlwing with six. Offensively, sophomore Ethan Kuziela recorded 18 kills and Provost added 17, both achieving attack percentages above .400.
Kuziela also contributed a team-best 27 assists for another double-double performance, while junior Brenden Reutter added 24 assists and is now one shy of reaching the milestone of 1,000 career assists. Senior Jace Milka joined Williams and Reutter in serving two aces each during the contest. Sophomore Ben Zima led the defense with sixteen digs.
Illinois Wesleyan held advantages over St. Norbert in several statistical categories: kills (60-40), aces (6-4), blocks (17-5), and assists (53-40). The Green Knights had more digs than the Titans by a margin of four. After dropping the first set narrowly, Illinois Wesleyan responded strongly in subsequent sets to secure the win.
