The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its final weekly awards for the season on Monday, May 5. The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team swept the honors with senior Jen Kuhn and junior Caroline Gatchell receiving accolades.

Kuhn was named CCIW Hitter of the Week, marking her third time this season and fourth in her career. Gatchell earned her first recognition as CCIW Pitcher of the Week. She is the third Titan pitcher to win this award this season, joining teammates Gianna Certa and Mallory Holland.

Kuhn’s performance was instrumental in a sweep against Augustana on April 30. She hit .571 with four hits in seven at-bats, scored three runs, hit a double, a solo home run, and drove in two runs while achieving a slugging percentage of 1.143. Her efforts were key to IWU’s comeback victory over Augustana.

Gatchell contributed significantly by pitching 6.1 scoreless innings in IWU’s 5-4 come-from-behind win over Augustana, helping secure the CCIW Regular Season title for Illinois Wesleyan. During her time on the mound, she struck out five batters and limited Augustana to four hits.

Illinois Wesleyan will start its CCIW Tournament play on Thursday, May 8 at 4 p.m., facing off against either Carthage College or North Central College.
