The Illinois Wesleyan University Titans women’s lacrosse team is on the move for the final regular season away game. They will compete against Carroll University at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Saturday, April 12. The match will take place at Schneider Stadium, starting at 1 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan, holding a record of 6-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play, recently triumphed over Augustana College with a decisive 19-8 outcome. Freshman Maddie Gibson from Fenton, Missouri, stood out with six points, including four goals and two assists. Senior Mia Fiandaca from St. Charles, Illinois, topped the goal count with five, while Avery Setzler and Sadie Newton, both from Bloomington, Illinois, led in assists and ground balls, respectively.

The offensive lineup, comprising Setzler, Newton, and Gibson, is tightly matched, with Setzler at 27 points, Newton at 26, and Gibson at 25. Fiandaca leads in goals at 22, followed by Newton and Setzler with 18 and 17. Setzler and Anelise DiGiovanni, who hails from Lockport, Illinois, are top in assists, sharing ten each, closely followed by Gibson with nine.

Newton is at the forefront in draw controls with 48, while Fiandaca and Setzler trail with 30 and 26. The team ranks 16th nationally for caused turnovers, achieving an average of 13.92 a game. Fiandaca, Newton, and Carly Bajusz of Naperville, Illinois, lead the cause with 37, 19, and 14 turnovers, respectively.

In the goalkeeping department, senior Lizzie Rymarcsuk from Lake Zurich, Illinois, leads with 106 saves over 612:15 minutes, maintaining a 6-6 record and a .473 save percentage. As the Titans and Carroll University (7-3, 1-0 CCIW) anticipate their 13th face-off, Illinois Wesleyan enjoys an 8-4 series advantage. The Titans edged Carroll in their last meeting with an 11-9 win on April 13, 2024, clinching a share of the second spot in the CCIW and securing third place in the conference tournament.
