Illinois Wesleyan to host IWU Invite men’s golf tournament April 3-4

The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s golf team announced on Apr. 2 that it will host the IWU Invite, one of the largest Division III tournaments in the country, on April 3-4 at two courses in Normal, Illinois. The event will feature 35 teams and a total of 239 players.

This tournament is significant for intercollegiate athletics as it brings together top NCAA Division III programs from across the region, providing an opportunity for student-athletes to compete at a high level. The Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Golf team competes in NCAA Division III athletics, according to the official website.

On Friday, teams will play at Ironwood Golf Course, a dedicated facility used by Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Golf as reported by their official website. Saturday’s round will be held at Weibring Golf Course. Sophomore Pablo Castro has led the team this spring and recently tied for third place individually at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational with a score of 204 over three rounds. Senior Michael Spitzer also finished in the top-20 at that event with a five-under total of 211.

Illinois Wesleyan is fielding three teams and four individuals for this competition. The Titan ‘A’ team includes Castro, Spitzer, seniors Juney Bai and Aidan Healy, and freshman Ryan Andrews. Other squads feature athletes from various class years and hometowns across several states and Canada.

The program operates from Bloomington, Illinois according to its official website, is affiliated with Illinois Wesleyan University and participates within the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin according to its official website.
