The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams began their outdoor season at the TCU Alumni Invitational on March 21 at the Lowdon Track & Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas. The event marked the first outdoor competition of the year for the Titans.
The meet is significant as it provides an early benchmark for athletes and sets the tone for upcoming competitions. Freshman Mallory Short achieved a personal best in the women’s 400 meters with a time of 58.06 seconds, finishing 16th. Sophomore Kelsey Moore also secured a top-20 finish in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:10.87 for 20th place. In field events, sophomore Sarah Polley placed 13th in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 9.72 meters.
On the men’s side, sophomore Cole Marshall ran his first outdoor race of the season in the men’s 100 meters, recording a personal best of 10.85 seconds to finish 30th overall. Other notable performances included Nyamedze Maison’s personal best of 10.99 seconds in the men’s 100 meters and Justin Trammell’s personal best of 55.79 seconds in the men’s 400 meters.
The Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Track and Field team hosts indoor events at the Shirk Center Indoor Track, a facility dedicated to track and field, according to the official website.
