The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track teams completed their weekend at the Roger Haynes Invitational, hosted by Monmouth College on Saturday, February 14. The Titans secured victories in the women’s 4×400 relay and in the men’s 400-meter event with junior Reece Dusek finishing first.
Following a strong showing at the GVSU Big Meet earlier in the weekend, additional members of the team competed in Monmouth, achieving 16 top-five finishes. In the men’s 400 meters, Dusek led a field of 13 participants with a time of 50.12 seconds. Juniors Carson Green and Alex Maas also placed among the top five, with Green taking second place at 51.15 seconds and Maas finishing fourth at 52.41 seconds.
The women’s 4×400-meter relay team—senior Bella Gonzalez, sophomore Caroline Hill, freshman Corrina Fassino, and senior Jordynn Griffin—won their event with a time of 4:01.47. This group also finished second in the women’s 4×200-meter relay.
In other results, the men’s 4×200-meter relay team of seniors Joel Weber and Danny Crawford, junior Noah Sadowski, and Maas placed third with a time of 1:31.82.
Freshmen Cassidy Madden and Summer Clark tied for second place in the women’s high jump after both cleared a height of 1.48 meters. On the men’s side, freshman Justin Moon achieved a top-five finish with a jump of 1.75 meters.
Carson Green finished second out of sixteen competitors in the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.84 meters. Sophomore Sarah Polley was fourth on the women’s side with a distance of 4.93 meters.
The Titans are scheduled to compete next at their final regular season indoor meet on Friday, February 20 during the Friday Night Tri at Shirk Center beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan’s track and field program is based in Bloomington, Illinois and operates as part of intercollegiate athletics within NCAA Division III competition through participation in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).
