The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team ended its season after a 22-2 loss to Carroll University in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Semifinals on April 29. The Titans finished their season with a record of 6-11.
This game marks the conclusion of collegiate careers for several players, including fifth-year Bri Kiser, seniors Sadie Newton, Anelise DiGiovanni, Sarah Riepe, Carleigh Fountain, and junior Chloe Heyl who will graduate early. Sophomore Marli Brown made 10 saves in the first half as Illinois Wesleyan was outshot by Carroll. The Pioneers gained an early lead using a strong advantage at the draw and led by 14 goals at halftime.
Illinois Wesleyan scored its first goal in the third quarter when sophomore Maddie Gibson found the net off an assist from Riepe. Sophomore Sophie Shore added another goal in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap. The Titans concluded their campaign having earned three CCIW Player of the Week awards and placing two athletes on All-CCIW teams.
