The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Hanover College 21-12 on March 29, improving their season record to 4-7 while the Panthers fell to 2-6.
This result is significant as it demonstrates the team’s offensive capabilities and readiness for upcoming conference play. The Titans’ victory was highlighted by senior Anelise DiGiovanni’s ten-point performance, tying her career-high. DiGiovanni scored four goals and recorded six assists. Sophomore Sophie Shore matched DiGiovanni in goals with four and contributed two assists, while Maddie Gibson and Sadie Newton added five points each.
Shore also led defensively with a career-high seven ground balls and five caused turnovers. DiGiovanni set a personal best by winning eleven draw controls out of the team’s total of twenty-four. Marli Brown played all sixty minutes in goal, making six saves for Illinois Wesleyan.
The Titans led in several statistical categories including shots (45-25), shots on goal (35-17), ground balls (34-32), draw controls (24-11), and caused turnovers (18-11). The game took place at Tucci Stadium in Bloomington, Illinois, where the team hosts its home games according to the official website.
