The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s tennis team defeated Olivet Nazarene University, 6-1, on March 27. The Titans improved their record to 11-6, achieving their highest number of wins in a season since the 2005-06 campaign, while the Tigers fell to 0-4.
This victory is significant as it marks a milestone for the Titans’ program and reflects their strong performance this season. The match took place at Park Forest and showcased both singles and doubles competitions.
Illinois Wesleyan swept all three doubles matches. Amber Ehrlich and Olivia Bell won at the top spot with a score of 6-3. Gabi Lipske and Katie Van Heuklon secured a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while Adia Douglas and Elana Religioso completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Ehrlich defeated Rafa Luna by scores of 6-3, 6-0 at No.1 singles. Lipske claimed her match against Savannah Amatyleon with two sets of 6-1 each. Van Heuklon battled through three sets to overcome Jori Lambert, winning in a final set tiebreaker (11-9). Douglas and Religioso added straight-set victories at fourth and fifth singles respectively.
The Titans will host Greenville University for their only home match of the spring season on April 8 at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois, where they will also celebrate Senior Day by recognizing senior Marianna Arias prior to competition.
