Illinois Wesleyan women’s tennis announces team awards at annual banquet

The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s tennis team recognized its student-athletes and announced team awards at its annual banquet, held on April 22. Director of Tennis Jason Van Heuklon handed out letters to all eleven members of the squad and named junior Amber Ehrlich as the team’s most valuable player.

Ehrlich received the top honor after earning Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin recognition. She finished the season with a 10-10 record at No. 1 singles and a 14-6 mark in one doubles alongside junior Olivia Bell.

Sophomore Gabi Lipske was awarded most improved, posting a 10-10 record at No. 2 singles and finishing with a 10-7 record in No. 2 doubles with sophomore Katie Van Heuklon. Senior Marianna Arias received the team’s respect award.

The Titans are expected to return most of their roster for the upcoming fall season. Letterwinners included first-years Avery Anderson, Adia Douglas, Maggie Klein, and Elana Religioso; sophomores Gabi Lipske, Katie Van Heuklon, and Angela Zatloka; juniors Olivia Bell, Carly Edwards, Amber Ehrlich; and senior Marianna Arias.

The Illinois Wesleyan Titans Women’s Tennis program operates from Bloomington, Illinois; hosts home matches at Evergreen Racquet Club; utilizes Beadles-Morse Courts as outdoor facilities; belongs to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin; participates in intercollegiate athletics; and competes in NCAA Division III athletics, according to the official website.
