The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s track and field team is set to participate in the Firebird Finale in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Friday, March 6. The meet will be held at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center and marks the final competition of the indoor regular season for the Titans.
Following their recent performance at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Championships, where they finished third with 77 points according to their official website (https://www.iwusports.com/sports/womens-track-and-field), several athletes from Illinois Wesleyan are aiming to improve their national rankings ahead of the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships scheduled for March 13-14.
In the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Women’s Indoor National Rankings released on March 3, Illinois Wesleyan was ranked No. 21. Elmhurst University, which won this year’s CCIW title, was ranked No. 15.
Five members of the Titans currently hold top-20 positions in individual Division III rankings. Senior Evan Lowder is ranked eleventh nationally in the men’s 400 meters as selections for nationals approach.
Senior Adriana Crabtree is ranked tenth after setting both a program and all-time CCIW record earlier this season in the women’s 3000 meters. Junior Mackenzie Huber holds twelfth place in the women’s 800 meters after winning her event at the CCIW Indoor Championships with a converted time of 2:12.15.
Illinois Wesleyan has two triple jumpers among Division III’s top twenty performers: junior Imani Ogunribido leads all competitors with an all-time CCIW record jump of 12.63 meters, while freshman Tori Brown ranks sixteenth nationally with a leap of 11.69 meters. The team is one of only four programs—alongside Elmhurst, UW-La Crosse, and Centre—to have two female triple jumpers inside this range.
The Illinois Wesleyan Titans Women’s Track and Field program competes at NCAA Division III level as part of both Illinois Wesleyan University’s athletics department and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (https://www.iwusports.com/sports/womens-track-and-field). The team draws athletes from communities throughout Illinois (https://www.iwusports.com/sports/womens-track-and-field) and is based in Bloomington, Illinois (https://www.iwusports.com/sports/womens-track-and-field).
Competition at Tarble Arena begins at 3:15 p.m., with further information including schedules and live statistics available online.
