Junior Nora Cerroni of the Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career, according to an announcement by the league office on April 8.
The recognition marks the fifth weekly award for Illinois Wesleyan this season and is also their fourth consecutive weekly honor. The Titans participate in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division III level, as reported by their official website.
Cerroni achieved a career-best performance at the WashU Spring Invite held March 29-30. She recorded a personal best 36-hole total and broke 70 for the first time with a three-under-par score of 69, following a four-under-par back nine. Cerroni became only the fifth player in program history to break 70 in competition. Her second round score was six-over-par 78, securing her both a runner-up finish individually and helping lead her team to second place overall—both personal bests.
The Titans are scheduled to host their next event, the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling, at Ironwood Golf Course on April 11-12. The team utilizes Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois, for events and also competes at venues such as Weibring Golf Course in Normal, according to information from their official website.
Illinois Wesleyan functions as a collegiate athletic program competing within CCIW championships. Their ongoing participation is documented by their official website, which also lists other recent student-athletes recognized with weekly awards.
