There were 48 offenders living in McLean County released on parole during the first quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by McLean County Times.

The data shows 46 men and two women were released in McLean County. The median age of the parolees was 36. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2020, and the oldest was a 55-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2019.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Julius James. He was convicted of a property crime in 2009 when he was 24 years old. He is now 37.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
