Illinois Wesleyan University track and field athletes Ashlyn Rager and Kelsey Moore each won their respective events at the Illinois College Thursday Throwdown in Jacksonville, Ill., according to an April 2 announcement from the university. Rager secured her first career victory in the women’s discus throw with a personal best of 36.62 meters, while Moore claimed the top spot in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.45.
These results highlight individual achievements for student-athletes competing across several disciplines as part of Illinois Wesleyan’s intercollegiate athletics program, which features participants from freshman to senior years according to the official website.
Senior Taylor French finished second in the women’s javelin event, nearly matching her personal record with a throw of 38.07 meters. In other performances, sophomore Daniel Nash set a new personal best in men’s shot put at 14.12 meters for fifth place, while senior Bobby Mogged placed fourth in men’s 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.77 seconds.
Moore also competed strongly in another event by finishing fourth in the women’s short sprint hurdles (100m) at 16.04 seconds, followed closely by freshman Jinna Hiser who took fifth place with a time of 17.27 seconds.
The Titans’ track and field teams are based in Bloomington, Illinois according to their official website, and compete within NCAA Division III as members of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin according to their official website. The Shirk Center Indoor Track serves as home for indoor meets hosted by Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Track and Field according to their official website. The team will return to competition on Saturday, April 4 for the Huntsman Family Invitational hosted by Wabash College.
