Spending per pupil at McLean County Unit School District 5 was up 20 percent from five years ago, according to the McLean County Times analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.
The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Mclean County school district spent $10,048 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $12,056 in 2019-20.
The district’s enrollment fell from 13,751 to 13,023 students over the same period.
McLean County’s spending in 2019-20 was 16.8 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
