Illinois State’s Shai Robinson has been named to the 2025 Watch List for the Brooks Wallace Award, as announced by the College Baseball Foundation. The junior has made a strong impression both offensively and defensively on the field.
Robinson has maintained a .308 batting average, boasting five doubles, seven home runs, and 31 RBIs. Defensively, he has excelled by assisting in 17 double plays, accumulating 82 assists, and making 58 putouts. This commendable performance earned him a spot on the D1Baseball.com Top 150 College Prospects list for the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft.
Presented by the College Baseball Foundation, the Brooks Wallace Award recognizes the top shortstop in college baseball. It commemorates Texas Tech’s Brooks Wallace, who played from 1977 to 1980 and passed away due to leukemia at age 27. The list released includes the top 100 shortstops, based on both offensive and defensive capabilities.
This weekend, Robinson and his team return to Duffy Bass Field for a three-game series against Bradley as part of the Missouri Valley conference. The games are scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
