The Town of Normal and Illinois State University announced on Mar. 18 that they will hold the final community engagement event for the Pedestrian and Roadway Campus Safety Initiative on April 13. The event will take place in the Circus Room at the Bone Student Center from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The initiative aims to improve safety for pedestrians and drivers around the Illinois State campus. Community members are invited to learn about findings from quick-build safety projects, traffic calming studies, and recommendations developed through two phases of public input.
At the event, attendees can visit stations to explore results from recent safety installations, review traffic calming tools, and see how more than 1,500 survey responses have shaped proposed improvements. Organizers say this is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and local residents to see how their feedback is influencing plans for safer streets.
Free snacks and refreshments will be available during the showcase. Parking is free in the Bone Student Center lot at West Locust Street and Normal Avenue. No RSVP is required.
More information about the initiative can be found at normalil.gov/CampusSafety.
