ILLINOIS STATE SENATE DISTRICT 38: Rezin votes no on graduated income tax

38

Illinois State Senate District 38 issued the following announcement on May 1.

On Wednesday, May 1, the Senate approved a constitutional amendment (SJRCA 1) that would allow for Illinois to move to a graduated income tax system.

State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) released the following statement after she voted no on the proposal:

“I’ve said all along, my main concern with the graduated income tax proposal is the lack of protections in place to ensure that the rates won’t affect the middle class. When the government needs more money, which it will, eventually the middle class will be the ones footing the bill. In fact, the proposed graduated rates have already changed from what the Governor proposed a few weeks ago.”
