Junior golfer Macy Ludwig from Illinois Wesleyan University set a new single-round record for the university's women's golf program at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling. Competing at Ironwood Golf Course in Bloomington, Illinois, Ludwig achieved a five-under-par score of 67 on the first day of the tournament, held on April 13.
Ludwig's performance included birdies on holes three, eight, 13, 17, and 18. She also made an eagle on the par-five fifth hole with an impressive second shot. This score allowed her to tie her own program record of 67 while setting a new low round versus par record at five-under. Previously, she had shared the three-under record with seniors Emma Thorman and Lexi Onsrud.
Thorman and Onsrud both scored one-over-par rounds of 73 and are tied for fourth place in individual standings. Juniors Jadyn Spinks and Jacque O'Neill are tied for eleventh place with scores of 75.
The Illinois Wesleyan team currently leads by ten strokes over Carleton College with a total score of 288. St. Kate's is in third place with a score of 303. The 'B' team from Illinois Wesleyan is positioned in eleventh place with a score of 324.
The final round is scheduled for April 14, starting at 9 a.m., with live results available through Golfstat.
