The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Dan Hutson Invite, hosted by Wartburg University in Waverly, Iowa, on Saturday, October 4. The women's team secured a seventh-place finish while the men's team finished 11th out of 16 teams.
Senior runner from Normal, Illinois (University High), led the women's squad with a fourth-place individual finish, completing the course in 22:30.3. Freshman from Spring Grove, Illinois (Richmond Burton), finished 38th with a time of 24:30.5. Seniors from Chicago (Marist) and Batavia (Batavia) contributed to the team's result by placing 42nd and 50th, respectively.
On the men's side, senior Zack Daniel from Lake Barrington (Barrington) was the top finisher for Illinois Wesleyan, coming in at 58th place with a time of 26:47.4. Sophomores from Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion) and Bloomington (Normal Community) also placed within the top-100 runners.
Several athletes achieved personal-best times during the event.
The Titans will next compete at the Augustana Interregional Invite on Saturday, October 18 in Rock Island, Illinois at Saukie Golf Course. This venue will also host the College Conference of Wisconsin and Illinois Championships later this season.
