Illinois State University’s football team has climbed four spots to No. 13 in the latest AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, following a decisive 52-20 win against Indiana State. The poll, presented by Hudl, lists Illinois State as one of seven Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) teams currently ranked.
The Redbirds also appear at No. 14 in this week’s Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, marking their 27th consecutive appearance in those rankings. North Dakota State holds the top position in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll with 23 first-place votes, while Illinois State is the next-highest MVFC team at No. 13. Other MVFC schools featured are South Dakota State (14), North Dakota (18), Youngstown State (19), South Dakota (22), and Southern Illinois (23).
Illinois State is set to travel to Brookings, South Dakota on Saturday for a matchup against the Jackrabbits, who are ranked No. 14/15 and have a record of 7-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play. This game carries significant playoff implications for both teams.
