Taylor French earns fifth CCIW hitter award as Titans finish perfect conference season

Illinois Wesleyan University senior Taylor French has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Volleyball Hitter of the Week for the fifth time this season. This marks the 14th weekly honor of her career, according to an announcement made by the league office on Tuesday, November 11.

French recently became the first student-athlete in CCIW women's volleyball history to win a specialty award three times after earning her third consecutive CCIW Offensive Player of the Year honor. Her latest recognition adds another accolade as she closes out her final regular season.

French's performance contributed to a successful season for Illinois Wesleyan, with members of the team earning a total of 14 weekly honors. French received five Hitter of the Week awards this year (September 8, September 12, October 13, and November 3), and other Titans players recognized include Alex Bardouniotis, Sophia Feeney, Kannyn Boyd, Hannah Tellor, Eleanor Palmer, and Alysa Lawton.

In their recent match against Augustana College, Illinois Wesleyan completed an undefeated conference regular season. The team set a new program record with a .521 attack percentage. French led with 15 kills and only two errors on 24 attempts for an individual hitting percentage of .542. She also recorded a team-high 16 digs for a double-double performance and added two assists and one ace.

Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will face either Wheaton College or Carroll University in the CCIW Tournament Semifinal at Shirk Center on Thursday night at 7 p.m., following Tuesday's quarterfinal matchup between those teams.
