Tri Valley Community Unit School District 3 is asking parents to participate in its annual 5Essentials survey, according to a March 11 announcement. The district said the survey takes about ten minutes to complete, responses are anonymous, and the deadline for submission is Friday.
The district says parent feedback is important for improving school experiences. The survey aims to gather input from families of students attending Tri-Valley Elementary School, Tri-Valley Middle School, and Tri-Valley High School, all of which are part of the district representing McLean County according to the Illinois Report Card.
Tri Valley Community Unit School District 3 serves grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade and enrolled 1,065 students during the 2019-2020 school year. It is located in Downs and McLean County according to the Illinois Report Card. The district spent $17,782 per student in 2020, with total expenditures reaching $18,938,096 according to the Illinois Report Card.
Demographic data shows that Tri Valley Community Unit School District 3 is composed of approximately 92.7 percent White students, with smaller percentages identifying as Black (0.8 percent), Hispanic (2 percent), and Asian (0.8 percent) according to the Illinois State Board of Education. The teaching staff includes 75 teachers earning an average salary of $61,511 before pension contributions; about three-quarters are women and one-quarter are men. No teachers had more than ten absences in a school year according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
The district reported seven chronically truant students during the 2020 school year—a rate of just 0.7 percent—compared with a statewide average chronic truancy rate of 9.6 percent according to the Illinois State Board of Education. “Chronically truant” refers to students who miss five percent or more of mandated school days without a valid excuse.
