Lexington ranked 616th in state in lottery ticket sales for June 2016

The City of Lexington had the 616th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of June 2016 -- down 41 spots from its May ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Lexington was $13.17 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McLean County Times, Lexington generated $27,114.50 in net sales from its three lottery retailers in June 2016, compared to $35,642 in June 2015.

The City of Lexington is in McLean County, and has a population of 2,059, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in June 2016 was $14,821.86.

Lexington's top lottery retailer is Freedom Oil Co located at 1102 W Main St, Lexington, IL 61753.

Freedom Oil Co generated 47 percent of Lexington's June 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of McLean County's sales that month, which was $1,645,227.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in McLean County in 2015 were Towanda, El Paso, Chenoa, Danvers and Le Roy.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
