89 percent of applicants to Illinois State University were admitted for fall 2017

At Illinois State University, 96 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 55 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Normal enrolled 20,784 students in fall 2017, including 18,330 in undergraduate and 2,454 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

96 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 3 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (75 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (10 percent).

The school admitted 89 percent of the 11,592 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 32 percent enrolled.
