FAIRBURY AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Echoes Museum

Oldnewspaper

Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.

Step back in time to Historic Fairbury. A visit to Echoes Museum is full of surprising facts and rare insights of what made our town what it is today. Exhibits are constantly changing, with fascinating artifacts being added often. Plus, Echoes Museum features a one-room exhibit that showcases a different theme throughout the year.

Some interesting items you will find at Echoes Museum are a human hair wreath, an ox yoke – that is part of the Marion Stafford collection, local Native American artifacts and an original New York Herald newspaper announcing the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Echoes museum was created under the direction of the Dominy library in 1976 and was originally located at Carrither’s home east of the Library. The museum moved to Locust Street in 2004.
