McLean County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 18.
Conversations surrounding the legalization of recreational marijuana have become more and more commonplace over the last couple of years – with many lining up on both sides of the issue. Marijuana has been legalized in many states either for medicinal purposes or recreational use. Illinois has been on the medicinal list since 2013, but has not officially considered legalization for recreational use. However, this past Spring Session brought something that we have yet to see – a legislative proposal to bring the matter to fruition.
McLean County lawmaker Senator Jason Barickman, the only Republican senator to publically support the idea, and cosponsor the legislation, will join the Chamber’s membership for the fourth and final ‘BN The Know’ luncheon to discuss his thoughts on the matter with the Chamber’s membership.
The conversation of recreational marijuana is not going away any time soon – make sure you are at the table.
