City of Bloomington issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.
Tickets Available for 43rd Annual Luncheon – Award Recipients Announced
The 43rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Luncheon will be held on January 12, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Normal, IL. The luncheon, hosted by the City of Bloomington Human Relations Commission in partnership with the Town of Normal Human Relations Commission, is one of the oldest programs in the nation that honors the legacy of Dr. King.
The Bloomington Human Relations Commissioners have recently selected their 2019 MLK award recipients which include:
· The MLK Adult Award will be presented to Duane Farrington (State Farm Insurance Executive).
· The MLK Youth Award will be presented to Kavya Sudhir (Senior at Normal Community High School).
· The MLK Champion Award will be presented to Not In Our Town (NIOT)
The Town of Normal Human Relations Commission 2019 MLK award recipients include:
· The MLK Adult Award will be presented to Jerry James (retired State Farm)
· The MLK Youth Award will be presented to Priyamsa Mikkilineni (Senior Normal Community High School)
This year’s keynote speaker is Garry Moore, recently retired WEEK-TV news anchor and community advocate.
Tickets are $25 each - Table of 10 is $250 and can be purchased in person at Bloomington City Hall HR dept. or at BCPA Box office (cash or check).
