City of Chenoa issued the following announcement on Jan. 23.
With heavy rain overnight in central/northeastern Illinois and rapidly falling temperatures moving in, we expect roads may freeze up rather quickly this morning.
The freezing line is currently along the Illinois river. A lot of schools are closed today including Quincy schools, Peoria public schools and Rockford public schools.
These temperatures will be crashing across all of Illinois through the day and a flash freeze is looking likely.
Please slow down and allow an extra several minutes to your destination.
Further northwest heavy snow has caused roads to be snow packed. Travel is not advised where several inches have fallen.
